Farm Update: “Before”

As some of you may have heard/red: we signed our closing papers on Friday and should get the keys to our new farm today! Expect this blog to be a bit on the quiet side for the next few weeks as we pack, renovate, festivate and get settled. It is my plan to post updates along the way as we transform this roomy, retro house into a homey, welcoming farmhouse. I can’t wait to utilize all the light from the many windows (that need to be replaced) for my photographs and finally get back to posting about homesteading, vs coping with apartment life.

To begin – here are some “before” shots:

We have many projects ahead of us around these 17 acres and two floors, and hopefully many years of many laughs and smiles. I hope you’ll join us for the journey!

  1. Soooo exciting! I’m looking forward to seeing the transformation of the house into a farmhouse.

Your property looks beautiful! I would’ve have bought the place just for the property.

My homesteading posts have stopped as hubby & I are transitioning from life on 4 acres to living in a 5th wheel for a while due to his job. I am going to try to do some container gardening but it will have to be small enough and able to be easily transported to the next job. sigh.

    • Thanks! It is quite lovely… when it’s not pouring. 😉
You’re better than me – all i had growing here was my bay tree and kaffir limes. Bring on the dirt!

  2. As an HGTV and DIY channel junkie, I look forward to seeing all that you do with the house and farm. We also have 17 acres with a pond, but about 14 of them are left wild, with a fenced area around the house. No farm other than a Square Foot Garden for tomatoes & herbs, no livestock other than Dakota the Corgi and the cat. I admire and salute you for taking on this project. Please keep posting updates!

  3. how exciting! Congratulations! I can’t wait to see it develop.
